Kiwan Hapkido offers the unique opportunity to become an expert in three distinct Korean martial arts:
Hapkido, Taekwondo, and Haidong Gumdo.
Hapkido translates to 'the way of coordinating energy". Hapkido is a total self defense martial art, combining the locking and break-falling aspects of Aikido, the throwing aspects of Judo, the striking aspects of Karate, and the footwork of Taekwondo.
Taekwondo is the national sport of korea. It is a competative and energetic combat martial art that is famous for its kicking techniques.
Haidong Gumdo is the korean traditional art of the Sword.
Message to all Black Belts
Kiwan Hapkido can only achieve excellence in the teaching of Hapkido though the quality of its instructor's Hapkido abilities, their instructional skills and their personal attributes. Please contact Master Kiwan to ask about the Instructor's training course. This course is a pre-requisite for teaching hapkido.
